POW 2: Sprechen Sie Englisch?

TRANSLATIONS

PANEL 2:
C: Hey, Mister Germany!
G: Yes.
C: Do you speak English?
G: Nein...
C: Would you be willing to learn? I am the only prisoner who can speak German, and most of us speak English so it would be efficient.
F: #$%^! My little boy... is ENGLISH?

PANEL 3:
G: You will instruct me starting at 6 o'clock PM.
C: That is fine! Thank you!
F: Come with me mister... We need to have a chat about your french speaking!

PANEL 4:
G: Good morning prisoners. Your comrade, Canada, has taught me some English.

Like I mentioned earlier, a group of Canadian POWS was able to convince a German guard to greet them with "I am a filthy German bastard."

Some background info... Most prisoners could not speak German, so each group would elect a representative who could speak German to communicate with the guards.
Most prisoners of war were British or American, but there were usually a few Canadians (and occasionally some French...) Canadians are, of course, instructed in both national languages; but the vast majority of us speak only English (I admittedly forgot most of my French after a few months, despite nine years of French instruction.)
Also, the French abhor our Quebecois accents when we try to speak to them. They would usually prefer to speak english to us. It's like how Brits feel when they hear Jersey accents.
